Is $350 the full price for this visit?
Yes. $350 is what the visit costs. Anything beyond it is quoted before it starts.
How does it actually work?
Pigment is placed into the upper layers of the skin with a very fine needle, following strokes or shading that are drawn onto your brow first. It sits shallower than a body tattoo does, and that is the whole reason the result is semi-permanent rather than permanent.
Your skin renews itself from underneath, so your body gradually breaks down and clears pigment held that close to the surface. It is also why the shape is designed with you before anything is implanted: what is being built is a brow for your face, not a copy of someone else's.
What actually happens at the appointment?
The longest part is not the tattooing, it is the drawing. We map and pencil the shape onto your brows and keep adjusting it with you until you are happy with it, and the colour is chosen against your own hair and skin tone.
Nothing is implanted until you have looked in a mirror and agreed to what is drawn there. Numbing is used, and the work itself is then done in passes.
Will they look drawn on?
Not if the shape is built around your own bone structure and the pattern your hair already grows in, which is exactly what the mapping stage is for.
What does surprise people is the first few days. Brows read darker, sharper and bolder straight after the appointment than they will settle to, because pigment is sitting on the surface as well as in it. Judging them then is judging them at their least natural.
What am I like afterwards?
Darker and a little swollen at first, and then into a stage where the surface flakes and the colour looks patchy and much lighter than it did. It worries people who were not warned about it, and it is normal: the colour comes back as the skin settles.
Brows need to be kept dry and away from certain skincare while that is happening. We go through the whole of the aftercare with you before you leave.
Does everyone heal the same way?
No, and that is the honest limit of this treatment. How crisply skin holds pigment varies from person to person. Oilier skin tends to blur fine hair strokes, and a softer shaded result usually suits it better. Sun and your own skin renewal both affect how the colour fades.
